Since I’m still at the beginning of what people call art career, everything I do is also new and often a first for me. That basically means that I have no idea what I’m doing, but I’m excited to figure it out.
Illustrating children’s books has been on my mind for a few years now. So, what I’m doing is illustrating an already illustrated book. With the help from my sister, I’ve borrowed the text from my nephew’s favourite book, without looking at the illustrations. I am going to create new illustrations based on the story.
When I’m finished I can compare my illustrations with the published illustrator’s artwork.
So far, I have completed one out of nine images and I have already discovered some new challenges. Like choosing a colour palette that works for the entire story based on the text. Deciding on what illustration style I want to use and how storytelling works.
